Where Heritage Meets the Cup

My name is Alexandra Restrepo. Founder of Crema Lux.

I was born in Chicago to Colombian immigrants — a first-generation American raised between two worlds.

For most of my life, Colombia was a story… not a place.

My mother’s family is from Medellín.
My father’s family is from Jericó — a small mountain town known for faith, resilience, and some of the most beautiful coffee landscapes in the world.

I grew up hearing whispers that my grandparents were coffee farmers in Jericó. That our family once owned plantations. That the land was ours.

And somewhere between political shifts, changing times, and immigration — those farms were lost.

The details faded.
The land was gone.
The connection slowly disappeared.

But heritage has a way of calling you back.

And now, I’m returning — not just to visit, but to rediscover the people, the land, and the farms my family once cultivated and loved.

Because coffee isn’t just a beverage.

It’s memory.
It’s sacrifice.
It’s identity.

And along this journey, I realized something else:

The most extraordinary coffee in the world rarely leaves the small farms.

The United States receives what large exporters distribute at scale.
But the true microlots — the carefully cultivated harvests from independent fincas — often never reach homes and cafés abroad.

Not because they aren’t exceptional.
But because many farmers lack direct access to distribution.

So I decided to build a bridge.

Crema Lux is not just an espresso and coffee brand.

It is a return to roots.
A commitment to craftsmanship.
A bridge between Colombian fincas and individuals who want more than just coffee — they want connection.

From their hands → to your cup.
